After ten years of campaigning, fundraising and construction, section one of the High Line elevated park in New York opened to the public this morning.
Access to section one, which runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street, will be limited at first while additional access points are constructed, and Friends of the High Line volunteers will also be on hand during the first few weeks to answer questions about New York's newest park.
